Diamine Inkvent Calendar Day 13

Diamine Inkvent Calendar Day 13

Molten Basalt – Standard

The coals of the fire had
burned down until they
looked like Molten Basalt
when I was awakened
by a jingle of bells
and hearty laugh
The cookies and milk
were consumed
and I was filled with
awe that a man as
big as Santa had the
Skills to be so quiet

Ink Notes: I had to look up "molten basalt" to refresh my memory, and for those who don't know it's the rock from lava flows, and the most common picture is the dark rock with red hot lava underneath. Unfortunately, this picture, probably becaue of the lighting, makes this look like a dark ink with gold sheen, but in reality, the sheen is red and the ink is a deep navy blue-black. In my mind, that really does have that molten basalt look to it. Or, as I put in the poem, that look of coals in a fire when most of the coals have cooled on top and there's that under layer of red hot beneath.
