June/July Update

I thought I was going to write a short and sweet newsletter for you all, but nope. Let's just get to it, shall we?

Book Updates:

First update is that Nemetona’s edits are pretty much done and the manuscript is with my Awesome Wife for a last read-through, formatting, and cover design. Still don’t have a date for pre-order, but hopefully sometime in September or October.

Control is still with my proofreader, and I’m pretty certain that’s going to be pushed out to the beginning of next year.

Zeno’s Quicksand is still in the editing process, and that definitely won’t come out until sometime next year.

I have a few novel ideas in the works, too. My writing mojo has been off and on lately and it’s been hard getting back into the flow, but I think I’ve stumbled onto an idea that’s got some legs on it. I hope it'll help me get my writing foo back. We'll see!

Twitch and Podcast Updates:

I’ve cut back streaming to 3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mostly because it’s easier on me at the moment, and because I’ll, hopefully, be going home to Ireland in the next couple of months (more on Ireland stuff in a bit). I’ll probably take some significant time off from streaming when I do leave, so always double check the schedule on my channel page at http://twitch.tv/worthyadvisor.

I am also 4 weeks away from finishing the podcast reading for Consortium, which means that after that the podcast will be taking a hiatus until Nemetona comes out. The last reading is scheduled for August 2. I expect August and September streaming will be a bit up in the air. Again, keep an eye on the schedule page.

Ireland Updates:

No word on my visa application yet, but we’re hoping to hear something around mid-August, but it could be as late as mid-September. Cross your fingers for me that it’s earlier rather than later!

However, the bigger Ireland news is that I’ll be opening a yarn and craft store called “The Spinner’s Web”! Our new house has a storefront, which we've been trying to figure out what to do with. The Wife and I batted around a few ideas for it, but nothing seemed to stick. One thing I’d thought of was doing some fiber art meetups in the storefront space, since there’s not a lot of that kind of thing in our area. But then my Wife basically said, “Well, if you’re going to do that, you might as well open a yarn store!” (Ok, that conversation wasn’t quite like that, but that’s the general gist of it.) I was like, "Yes! That's an awesome idea!"

My Mom's already made me a store logo:

The Spinner's Web Logo. Depicts a drop spindle with purple fiber and the letters "SW" in the fiber.

It’s going to be like all Local Yarn Stores: Part store and part community space. I’m super excited to get this set up and going, and if you’re ever in County Roscommon, come and visit! Depending on when my visa stuff happens, I’m hoping to open sometime between Samhain and Yule this year. I don’t have a website set up yet, but you can follow the store on Instagram to get updates: https://www.instagram.com/thespinnersweb/

Fountain Pen Updates:

I got the new Sailor Tuzu recently, and I really like it! (Link goes to Goulet Pen’s listing, but I’m not sponsored by them in any way. They are a good pen company, though!) It’s up there with TWSBI in construction and price, but a cartridge pen. It also has an adjustable grip section, which is a cool feature. Writes really nice, too!

In closing, hope everyone had a good Solstice and 4th of July! Hope the rest of the summer is good for everyone and that you all stay safe!
