Playing Card Oracle Deck -- Week 6 (Final!)

I was inspired to finish the deck this weekend, and so I finished the last 15 cards. I really had fun doing these, and the Wife has already requested a reading once the Mod Podge dries.

Some tips if you decide to do your own deck like this:

  1. Alcohol markers work great for coloring on the card stock, and will do really well for blending and gradients. The gel pens and Posca markers work well, too, and are great for details.
  2. Be careful when Mod-Podging the cards! Some of the gel pens will run (mostly the metallics, but some of the glitter ones do, too). The secret to those is to dab a thick layer of the Mod Podge over the area, then carefully spread it flat. The thick layer will protect the smearable ink.
  3. The Posca white marker is more translucent than the black, so you'll need to do 2 coats, unless you're going for translucent.
  4. Having a color scheme for each suit was ok, and I mostly stuck with it. I'm not 100% sure I'd stick with it if I did it again, but it did help sometimes when I wasn't sure what to do. I did end up overlapping or using the wrong color scheme for a few of the cards.
  5. Make sure you allow your cards to dry for a few hours before Mod-Podging, and definitely let your cards dry for a day once you've Mod-Podged them.
  6. When you Mod-Podge them, they will curl at first, but most will flatten out again. They will also end up thicker than they were, so the original box may not fit the whole deck anymore.

That's it's, and I hope you've enjoyed them! And yes, if you catch me on stream, you can certainly ask for a reading specifically with these cards! 😄

2 of Hearts

Generalized meaning: love

This card it pretty much what it says on the tin. Romantic love, romantic relationships. To some extent, sexual love, but it will also depend on what's being asked.

But overall, it's love, in any form it comes in.

2 of Spades

Generalized meaning: gathering knowledge

The two people are gaining knowledge for the journey individually and from thier connections. While they may be seeing things from different perspectives, they are still gaining more than they think.

7 of Clubs

Generalized meaning: turning point, defending oneself, spirituality, doubt

You must defend yourself from what's coming, but you can use all your tools to do it: weapons, spirituality, magic, shield, anything and everything you can find. It doesn't mean you don't have fear, or aren't wary about what's coming at you, but you know you have the means to survive.

7 of Diamonds

Generalized meaning: rewards, payoff, ethical success

You've found it! The Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow. All your searching, everything you've suffered, all you've done, adds up to a great reward of wealth and beauty. Not just material wealth, although that can come with this, too, but wealth of the mind and spirit. You have everything now and it's time to spend it!

8 of Diamonds

Generalized meaning: learning, teaching, balance with nature, focus

You have reached sacred ground and being in that space means you need to balance your physical needs with your spiritual needs. Time to focus on the now. The space is learning about you as much as you are learning about it and while there's still growth, it's not as quick as it used to be. Here, in this time and space, you are giving just as much as you are taking.

9 of Hearts

Generalized meaning: unexpected windfall, relationships, solitary contentment

You're fine, here, by yourself, letting things feed you and strengthen you. It's a period of rest and renewal while you wait to move on to the next thing. Be careful, though: don't try to live here, or else you'll stagnate and life will pass you by.

9 of Spades

Generalized meaning: new ideas, releasing old ideas

You're either launching a new idea or getting rid of an old idea. Either way it's lighting up a brighter path forward. It may not be the only idea you have to hurl into the sun or send out into the ether, but at least you're letting it go so you can do what you need to do.

Ace of Clubs

Generalized meaning: potential, new desires

This is new. This is bright and shiny and everything is possible. It's the dawn of a new day and nothing can stand in your way.

Ace of Spades

Generalized meaning: transformations, ideas, insipiration

The muse has come to you in full force, and you can't deny it anymore. All that you were, all that you have been, is changing. You can't stop it, even if you try. Let her guide you to your new self and cut off all the old things that have held you back.

Jack of Clubs

Generalized meaning: unreliable, hotheaded, risk taker, hidden intentions

The Jack of Clubs is really angry and wants to tear it all down. He's not looking for justice or revenge, he's just mad as hell and ready to lash out at everything. He's like a wild fire that no one can put out. Sometimes you do need to burn it all down, but it leaves absolute destruction in its wake.

Jack of Diamonds

Generalized meaning: reliable, hidden depths

Unlike his brother, the Jack of Clubs, the Jack of Diamonds is cool and sensible. He knows all the hidden paths to growth and has a flair for making sure everyone is comfortable and happy. He's not here to truly help you, as some of his paths may lead to dead ends or monsters. He might help you kill those monsters and point you towards the better paths. Or, he might just sit back and watch, cheering you on. He will make sure you have a latte and a pastry when you're done, though.

Jack of Spades

Generalized meaning: fights for a cause, intellectual, political

While his brothers are off in the elements, the Jack of Spades is working in the Real World, trying to find justice and create peace by any means necessary. He will defend you until all options are exhaused, but don't mistake his righteousness for love or compassion. He is ruthless in his pursuit of his cause and will stop at nothing to attain it, including ignorning what you truly need or the outcomes you really want.

Joker 2

Unlike the first Joker, this Joker has the darkness around him. Either he is riding into the Void or the Void is consuming him. While it isn't necessarily doom and gloom, since sometimes you need ride through the darkness to get to the light, it's also not the wide variety of potential that his brother is riding into. It is also a warning: what you're doing is taking you down a bad path and you need to decide to keep moving forward or turn around and go back.

King of Spades

Generalized meaning: analysis, ethical, communicator

This King is all about transparency. He is not hiding anything from you, and while he's all about defending you, he also needs you to be clear about what you're fighting for. Why are you doing what you are doing, and what does it mean for you? In a lot of ways, he's the epitome of Air, which calls for an openness and lightness before you can proceed.

Queen of Spades

Generalized meaning: courage, resourceful, sharp, intelligent

This Queen has all the resources at her fingertips. She has all the knowledge, but she also knows how to wield her weapons: knowledge, prophecy, power, and courage. She will protect you will all her heart, but she expects you to do your part and believe in what she teaches you. She is not here to give you comfort, but to teach you how to comfort yourself.
